Lance R. Peterson, MD, FASCP, FIDSA is the Director of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Research, and Epidemiologist at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, in Evanston Illinois. He is also Professor of Pathology and Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, and a staff member in the Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Divisions at Evanston Hospital. His current research interests include understanding the regulation of antimicrobial agent resistance in enterococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci; designing new strategies for treatment of infections due to resistant bacteria; the epidemiology of nosocomial pathogens (particularly MRSA, enterococci, and Clostridium difficile); and the development and evaluation of new molecular testing methods to enhance infectious disease diagnostics. He has over 500 scientific publications/presentations and is recognized in the 21st Century editions of Marquis' Who's Who.
